Backordered?

Everywhere I go, this phone is either out of stock or the store hasn't gotten any in yet. Everywhere I look online, it is back ordered.

Is it selling extremely well, or were very few shipped?

From what I have read, not that many were shipped out in the first shipment. Some AT&T stores didn't get one on the release date.

So when can we expect it to be widely available? I finally found a store with a working display model (but none in stock), and I really liked it.

Wow, if they're out, that means there is a serious shortage.

I ordered mine on Saturday, November 5th and it arrived today.

Same here, called around to about 8 stores in the area, only 2 had it and would not let me buy off-contract even though I'm already a customer, wtf?! First time AT&T ever refused to sell me a phone!

I put in an order at Target.com yesterday, but no idea if it's actually in stock, haven't received ship confirmation yet. :/

Update: just got shipping notification from Target.com, it's on the way!

The AT&T store I bought mine at on day of release had only received two, and I purchased the last one.

I went to my local AT&T store on Tuesday to buy two Focus S devices, one for me and one for my son. I got the last one (I had to take it because I was switching from Sprint and starting a family plan). His is probably on my doorstep (they ship UPS).

The AT&T store I went to only had two and they really had to dig around to find them. Maybe this is why there's so little information going around about this device and why the review units haven't been seeded yet. I wonder what the shortage is. Maybe they needed the components for high-demand Galaxy S II sales?

Even though Target just shipped mine out, didn't feel like waiting 24 hours and tried calling an AT&T store near me.. They had just gotten TWO in stock today, so I bought one, lol. Would rather buy it locally in case I need to return or exchange later anyways. Now I'm just hoping that I can return the other one in person at a Target store, lol.

Are you checking at "authorized retailers"? or official AT&T stores? Most AT&T stores are of the "authorized retailer" variety, at least in my area. On Cleveland's west side, there are maybe 5 or 6 AT&T stores, but only 1 of those is an official store. None of the retailers were carrying the Focus S on launch day, but the official store was. It's a bit confusing because even the authorized retailers usually have the full AT&T branding and look.

Try checking the store locator on AT&T's site and look for locations *not* labeled as authorized retailers. That's your best bet I think.

I bought mine late in the evening on launch day and the representative at the store told me it was the first one they'd sold, so I have my doubts about it selling out (unless Samsung didn't ship many to begin with, as someone else suggested)

Mostly authorized, but I think one was a official AT&T store... not sure, but that one had a lot more devices, and actually had a working Focus S on display but none in stock.

While I'm waiting, I picked up the Blackberry 9900 to play with. Once the S is available more widely, I exchange it, unless I decide I really really like the 9900 in which case I'll wait for WP8
