Backup for my phone

Is there a way to backup the apps installed on my phone? I'm running Mango.

YES! but you need to dev unlock / interop unlock your phone.

And Zune keeps track of all your apps purchased/downloaded through Marketplace. You can always reinstall them from there.

I'm not sure how restoring an app from a back up would be better than re-installing an app from Zune unless you are talking about saved games or something. But I'm not aware of anything that backs up that kind of data.

All different types of tracking apps. Finance, gas MPG, calorie counting, stuff like that. I have a couple years of MPG tracking that I obviously know will not transfer to my WP, but if I got a 4S everything seamlessly transfers from the backup.

I really like the restore from backup option itunes offers for the iPhone.

Its something many are missing. I wish it was there from the beginning, but they are definitely bringing some sort of backup and restore solution. Not sure exactly when though.

Its one of the top feature suggestions on the customer feedback/request forum. Go and vote!
