Windows Central Question

Supposedly the Band II has a full function GPS built in. It pairs with my iPhone that also has a built in full function GPS. So two questions:

-Which GPS determines the displayed distance I walked each day.

-Why does the Band II even have a battery depleting GPS when it will always be paired with a cell phone that has a fully redundant function and a relatively much bigger battery?

I guess it would be the band GPS that will determine the distance. As for not using the phone GPS, you could leave your phone at home or it might not be as accurate as the band. It would also mean the band will have to keep in sync with the phone all the time thus draining both band and phone batteries

You need 2 -4 good walk and/or run sessions with GPS on to calibrate to your stride. This greatly improves accuracy. After that the uses of GPS for a session mostly depend on wanting to map your route (Walk/Run/Bike).

Some like to walk, run or bike without their phone.

If you calibrate for stride and want to ignore GPS on Band 2 after that it won't hurt anything.

When it comes to sync, you sync from Band 2 to supplement the data set on your phone.
