Band via Target - $75 (!!!)

You might want to clarify the Cartwheel App coupon since that app is only available for iTunes and Google Play.
What mobile device did you use? Did you use a WP device? If so how did you get this sorted out?
Did you print the coupon out?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Ah yes. One of the few handful of apps that needs to be on WP. I was using my iP6. Even when I didn't have an iPhone, I had the iPod Touch so that I can access a few apps that wasn't available.

In related news, I've gotten four people to buy one, with five others waiting until after work or are locating available stock. If only they were also buying a L640. Still, it got a lot of people I know thinking about a device from Microsoft.

Can this Cartwheel trick be used to buy a Lumia 640?

I wish. The 640 was being sold for $70 the other day from one of the big retailers - I forget which. I might make it a habit and post deals I come across over here.

Augh... this is the worst day to be stuck on campus then have to go straight to work.

You can order it for $99 at Best Buy online. You miss out on the 25%, but it's still a very good deal and you don't have to skip work, school or have to hunt down the right size.

I just had someone go get it for me.

...and the Target around here (Southern Illinois) actually declined the extra 25%. Apparently the ones that are knocking it down to $75 aren't supposed to be doing so, and may receive calls from corp. for doing so.

My friend got one last night and wasn't able to add the Cartwheel discount either.

So I had gotten 17 of my friends to pick one up yesterday and the ones I've talked to are commenting on how much they like it so far. Two friends however ran into the problems you experienced. They either didn't allow the pricematch to Best Buy (Amazon didn't have their price lowered at the time) because it wasn't showing as one of the competitors on their cheap-o Android tablet to look up prices, or they denied the Cartwheel discount. Here's the store policy for pricematch. Not too clear, but it looks like you can:

[h=3]Can I use a coupon when price matching?[/h]A guest can use coupons when price matching per Target's normal coupon policy. When the guest presents a coupon(s), these steps will be followed:

  • Manufacturer coupons: manufacturer coupons will be applied after the price match is made.
  • Target and Cartwheel coupons: Target and Cartwheel coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target and Cartwheel coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price.
  • Combining both Target, Cartwheel and manufacturer coupons: the Target and Cartwheel coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target and Cartwheel coupons have been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price. Once the price match is made the manufacturer coupon will be applied.
  • Reminder: we accept one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item unless either coupon prohibits it. Target does not ad match a competitor’s coupon-required offers.
  • Some states may not permit coupons for items containing alcohol.

I have personally 'sold' six or seven 'surfaces' to friends, family and co-workers and I'm pretty sure when I get Band 2 I'll sell a few of those. Been on Windows Phone for nearly three years, and never sold a single one....

I've "sold" two SP4s, soon to be 18 Bands, 3 or 4 Windows Phones with 3 more by extension. Come at me bro. LOL
In a sense, being competitive in conversion rate will be good for the eco. :winktongue:

On a somewhat related front, here's something cool/fun that you can do if your company is having an event and you have a Microsoft Store nearby. I help plan some events and sometimes it's nice to have some vendors visit and set up booths during the lunch break. My shop usually like to do health related stuff, so of course the Band came to mind. Talk with the Community Relations person in the store and see if it is possible for them to do a roadshow at your event. For my event, they were going to come out for about 2-3 hours and bring Bands, SP4s, WPs and the XB1 with fitness Kinect games. There was a hurdle that I wasn't able to overcome in the short time leading up to our event - next Friday, so unfortunately I couldn't invite them. Maybe next year.

You might have better luck, so give it a try. If the recent Band sales I've made (almost 18 people did it) was an indication that brand awareness or perception change is needed for MS. All of them except for 2 Android users were using iPhones. All they needed to do was actually try MS equipment. Now they've gotten a piece of MS on their wrist and that could lead to other things later - maybe they'll try WP later for better integration (some complained that they couldn't use Cortana/Siri - that's Apple's doing). So a roadshow that benefits your company in entertainment may benefit the OS/eco we're fans of. Think about it.

It's actually been really easy to get others interested in Windows Phone for me.

First off, people ask about mine all the time... they talk about how their Android's become unstable after a year, I make a joke about "Force Close OS"... or they express their disdain for their iPhone's battery life... and from there it's easy. The phone I have on my person is usually a Lumia 830, 635, 640... the common component being those super-efficient 22nm processors and that I'm typically a whole day and some change into my charge with 65%-55% left, and able to talk about how seldom I ever see an application crash or quit without being provoked.

Sold about 5 previous droids and 1 iPhone guy into Windows Phone.
