BIG problem: my titan won't boot past logo screen

The first weird thing tonight happened when my mailbox tiles and the "me" tile disappeared. Got a message that it recovered from some data loss and I'd have to re-customize my home screen. After I did, I checked and all messages from the past 2 days were gone. After that, I was trying to set my alarm to wake me in the morning and the app wouldn't load. I decided to restart it since things were weird, and now it won't boot past the logo screen...

Took the battery out a few times... can't get it past the loading screen... wtf!

I know on WP8 there's a text message backup option somewhere, can anyone confirm if it was present in WP7? And how will it be accessed? with another phone?

It is not. I follow the dev boards and the BIGGEST request for 7.x is access to the SMS API. The #1 answer from MS is that they will never do this because it's available on 8.
