I have had a couple of WM devices before but at a usage level with the surface of things. I got tired of dropped calls on Sprint when at home and further north and went to at&t and opted for the Blackjack. Though I decided to take the WM plunge, I didn't go Pro, but I don't have a problem with standard lacking a touch screen...the Blackjack just had such a sweet form factor and I have had such a good track record with Samsung in the past I figured I would give them another shot. So far my migration is going well...I now will be lurking around the WMExperts side of the fence in hopes of getting help as I continue on to the dark side. :)

Never thought I would dump the world of CDMA for GSM.

upgrade on both fronts!!

;)

I'm very curious to hear how the battery life is for you, especially compared to a Treo. It should be miles better, but for the week I used it I found it wasn't as good as I expected.

Be sure you install the GPS hack!

Sorry you had to leave the land of free and/or cheap data, but what good is a "phone" if you can't make calls! I just upgraded my old Q to the Q9c and I love it even more. I missed a touch screen for about 2 minutes when I made the switch last year and found navigation MORE difficult on the Mogul when I tried it out for a few weeks 6 months ago. I likey the Smartphone platform. Welcome to the "club".

So far...the battery life isn't so bad but its hard to gage since I haven't put the heavy load on it yet. I have only gotten a day and a half with moderate voice and data use but my day also starts at 5:00 A.M. and I started getting the low battery warning at 10:00 A.M. the next day as where I got 2 to 3 days with the same use with a Treo 700p with Siedios 2600mAh extended battery.

1) Whoa: you got 3 days off a 700p w/ ext? Are you made of magic? ;) That's impressive.
2) Check out Hobbes' article on saving battery life:

...on the BJII the main thing you can do it turn down the screen brightness, turn on the (super annoying!) keyguard, and keep apps closed.

I have done everything possible when it comes to extra battery life for my Treo being extended battery and everything with settings and applications said to be done on this forum. The 3 days I got with my Treo was on a couple of rare occasions. For one, it was on a day where I barely used my Treo and towards the end of the day I shut down the phone part of the Treo and by the second day I used my Treo moderately again shutting it down at the end of the day and by day 3 I was at 35% using it moderately ending the day on major reserve with low battery warning...hence I also get full signal strength at work which is efficient. I am bad at times when it comes to charging my devices because when I get home I sometimes write my device off. I may use my Treo heavily may be two to three days out of a work week with both data and voice and then I could only get a day out of it. The Blackjack with moderate use is actually getting me almost two days and one day with heavy use...I think I am satisfied with BB II battery life so far. I actually love the device itself.

I am able to get almost 3 full days out of my BJII with push email enabled. This is a pleasant surprise considering that my Treo 700w only made it to 5:00pm of day 1 before battery was dreadfully low.

septimus, what kind of battery life did you see when you were using the BJII?

Really bad battery life, actually. I'm in edge, push email about 50 a day or so, checking another account every hour. I'd get 1.5 days tops.

At work I am in 3G, and on a heavy day for me I get about 30 emails with one account, and spend .5 hours on data sessions via the net not including emails and maybe an hour for talk time and I get about 1.5 days. IMHO, I think thats good for the BJ II. Good battery life depends on the individual and their usage, signal strength/coverage, and how often one slaves to the charger vs. their spectation of battery life which is different for everyone being bad or good. What ideal battery life would be choice for you in your situation septimus?

I am in 3G almost all of the day here. My company account gets 50-75 emails a day, plus I sync my gmail account. I only use bluetooth for connecting to my PC to transfer files, so that may have something to do with it if you use a headset often.

Well, honestly anything over 24 hours and I'm happy. I just expected better from the BJII.

I agree...over 24 hours is ideal. I dont like being a slave to my charger possibly extending my time between charges and when traveling I have more confidents before the next charge.
