Hi guys,
I had a lot of great feedback on the Gun Frenzy development blog that I think was critical in making it a decent game. I'd like to get the same benefit for my next game, a turn-based RPG tentatively called "Demon's Bane". The story is still taking shape but essentially involves a demon lord that is defeated in battle retreating into an ancient, ruined city and being followed by a band of heroes who are tying to finish him off. Players will form a band of 6 warriors from a choice of 18 varied character classes and will venture through a rich, 3D environment and battle enemies in their hunt for the demon. Character classes are still being finalized but so far include:
- Storm mage (human)
- Wood elf ranger (elf)
- Dark elf assassin (elf)
- Silver Elf Archer (elf)
- Paladin (might be elf or human ... not yet decided)
- Illusionist (human)
- Fire Mage / Pyromancer (human)
- Stone Priest (dwarf)
- Minotaur Warrior
- Orc Berserker
- Half Giant Barbarian
- Dark elf witch / necromancer (elf)
- Centaur Lancer / Archer
- Halberdier (human)
Remaining classes are still to be decided ... may not go as far as 18. Will see how it goes. Some work in progress screenshots. Will try to have an alpha version for playtesting some time in the next two weeks. I expect to support both 512MB RAM and higher devices as well as Windows RT and Windows 8 tablets / desktops / laptops. If you would like to playtest, please reply to this thread and PM me your Microsoft ID.
Character selection screen (still very much work in progress) showing the Minotaur warrior class:

A few screens of a battle level. Currently only the first 5 levels are built but they do link together in a reasonably cohesive manner to tell a story. You can see it's a hex-based game. Player moves all of his warriors and then the AI moves / attacks with his. The first level has the 6 mighty heroes face off against a lone Rat-man warrior with a blunderbuss.

You can also zoom in and pan the camera around your selected warrior to really appreciate the detail of each character model. Here you can see just how massive the Minotaur character class is compared to a basic warrior. However, there are going to be monsters in the game that make even the Minotaur or Half Giant characters look tiny.

So again, please post here and let me know if you'd like to sign up for beta testing.
