This might have been asked elsewhere but I was unable to find an answer to it. I was wondering if the WP8.1 DVP brought Bluetooth 4.0 capability to our L920 or whether it needs to be enabled by a firmware update. I know WP8.1 OS is Bluetooth 4.0 certified but I'm sure there might be some firmware magic needed.

The reason why I ask is I am looking for a Bluetooth headset for my L920 to use while running and walking. I am wondering if a 4.0 headset would work with my 920 or not. Also hoping when Fitbit releases their app (maybe 10 years from now) that the phone can support fitbit sync. I am using an unlocked ATT 920 on Tmo for context

Yes, we need the firmware magic to enable BT 4.0 features. The recently released treasure tag won't work with just 8.1. It needs the Cyan firmware to work.

what I had feared. I guess I'll wait till after the Cyan update to buy the headset. Last thing I want is to buy a headset and it doesn't work or Nokia not enabling BLE like it didn't for the 820 or 920 after the Black update even though it did for 520, 720 and the likes

The thing is that the 920 already has BT 4.0 with the Black firmware but only under WP8.0. Seems the new WP8.1 BT 4.0 stack is incompatible with the one from Nokia in the Black firmware, so we have to wait for Cyan when they rebuild it to work with WP8.1

oh, for real? so then it stands to reason that they will make it work again for sure. :) Sucks for the guys that have the Lumia 810 on Tmo. They'll lose their BLE with 8.1 then

Well I think they never had it. BT LE was introduced only with Black on higher-end models (8x0 upwards). Since the 810 is still on Amber it didn't even get BT 4.0 in the first place.

Personally I have been eyeing these for quiet sometime, Jaybird BlueBuds X... they are really pricey lol
