Blueyonder emails disappear from windows 8 phone

Hi everyone.
My wife has a new windows 8 Nokia 920. Her email account is provided by blueyonder.co.uk (Virgin Media). I have added this account to her new phone which automatically set up incoming and outgoing settings. She receives emails and can send emails but frequently (though irregularly), often every day, all her emails disappear from the phone's inbox whether she has read them or not. She can still access them via webmail or by using the Thunderbird client on her laptop. I note that the incoming setting on the phone is a pop3 one. This may be part of the problem or not. I'd appreciate any guidance you could offer to solve this issue.

Try to set that the phone downloads all emails. By default it is set to 7 days
Thanks for that miodrage. I have tinkered with the phone settings including the menu choices about how far back to download messages from but it hasn't made a difference so far.
 
Does the mail dissappear because of the Thunderbird client? It is a possibility that it deletes the messages from the server. Try to set it to leave a copy of the email on the server.
