bought a new Lumia 640 with original battery it doesn't charge past 80%

It doesn't charge past 80% even if you live it the whole night

I'd replace the battery and check if it's an issue with the battery or phone.

I had the same problem with a spare battery I purchased from EBay for my 830. It turned out to be a cheap Chinese knock off. Although it gave the correct info on the battery it would never charge past 80%.
Ordered another one from the UK and this time it's the real deal charging right up to 100%. So it looks like you've got yourself a fake one.....
