Broken screen repair

Someone had to break theirs first, right? Mine came out of my shirt pocket while taking stuff out of my trunk.

So, first finding a replacement part is hard. Since it's new and hard to find, the shop I called said the part itself right now was $300.

The microsoft recommended shop said it would be $185 + shipping. Plus, I'd have to ship the phone there, too.

e-bay has the replacement screens for $145 from Hong Kong. And it will be a few weeks before it gets here.

I haven't been able to find any videos on how to fix the 950 xl. It's just a month old. :-(

Should I try to fix it myself?

Bummer man. I know somebody has to be first, but bummer.
Like your attitude though. Good luck. And let us know the outcome.
I'm more the "send it to Microsoft" and get OEM repair. You can always drop that SIM in a 640 running 10586.39 while you wait. Not nearly as risky or painful that route.

MS won't repair.. they suggest sending it to a 3rd party vendor. (WTH?)
They're very unhelpful in this respect.

The shop I called said the repair would be $250.. the part is $190.

My screen crack is small enough that I don't know if its worth it to even replace.
I'm sure as hell not going to use my complete care to fix this.. I had no idea that complete care was a "one and done" contract. If I used it for screen replacement, the next 2 years I paid for are for nothing.
