Bypass battery on HP Stream 7

The battery on my HP Stream 7 has gone bad and to be honest I don't use the tablet enough to justify a replacement battery. I tried removing the battery and just plugging the tablet up to a power source but it won't power on, so I'm thinking I may need to create a jumper to bypass the empty battery connector...has anyone looked into running the HP Stream without a battery? Didn't really see any info when I tried to Google it.
