Can password reset erase data on laptop?

I forgot my password of Hp laptop having windows 10. I want to recover it by password reset disk. Will that affect my data on laptop?

Depends on the setup. If you can boot a linux Live CD like knoppix and browse the HDD and see the data, then probaly no. If encrypted somehow, then probably yes.

If you have a password reset disk made for that account and stuff I wouldn't expect it.
