Can photos be taken out of a dead Nokia Lumia 925?

Can photos be taken out of a dead Nokia Lumia 925? If so, how? Please note that connecting via USB to the PC doesn't work as the PC can't detect the phone.

that's assuming the battery is the issue, which it may not be.
