Can we upgrade window phone 7.8 to 8.1?

My question is : can we do upgrade window phone 7.8 to 8.1 and if window released a new window 10, can we upgrade window phone 8.1 to 10?

Since the kernels are different (among other reasons) 7.8 I'd not upgradeable to 8.1. But since there will be a Windows 10 developers preview for 8 and 8.1 devices, it's very possible for that.

For whatever reason, there are many.
But ultimately, 7.x devices are not going to be upgraded anymore.

Looks like 8.x devices will indeed be upgradeable to 10 however. Although it could vary.

No. 7.8 cannot be updated to 8.1

But you can probably update 8.1 to 10.
