Windows Central Question

I have Windows 10. When I try to reset my password, I get as far as getting a numeric code sent to my inbox. The I enter the code in the Windows reset menu, and program does not allow me to continue.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Please clarify:

From the way you described, it is obvious you had already signed in and you proceeded to reset password.

That means you do know your current password or else you couldn't sign in. Yes ?
If yes, do you want to CHANGE your password ?
If yes, there is a more simpler way.

Please post back with the answer before I continue.
Thank you.

I take it you are just trying to change your password.

Use this tutorial :
How to Change Password of Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10

Use Option Six.

Try as follow:

Restart the PC, hold down F8 once you enter the Windows® Boot Menu choose
Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and now type in the following:
after i do this a bunch of stuff shows up about systems loading shows up what does this mean?

net user root/add

localgroup Administrators root /add

net localgroup Users root /delete

The first command adds a new user called “root”, the second command adds
that user to the Administrators group and the third command removes the
user from the Users group which leaves him in the Administrators group.

Another ways is try command prompt, or reset disk.

Also there are many free windows password reset tool there like ntpassword, ophrack ,passfolk saverwin or labwin. but you need to use them on another working computer to make a reset disk with usb or dvd.
