So Microsoft released Windows 10 Technical Preview..... As usual, I am excited about. I go ahead and download the ISO file. Copy it to a hard drive and run the setup. Wait for it to complete. The computer restarts, I hold option key and boot it into Windows. The installation continues and I sit there watching it. The computer reboots again and I put it into Windows. I see the Windows logo. And a message under it 'Restoring previous Windows version'
What went wrong?

I have installed it on my Mac but I did it through Parallels. Now sure you want to go that route but it is woking fine and I don't have to reboot every time.

Yeah, but parallels really didn't suit me, although I did try it out before installing Windows 8. My gripe is that I wasted 3.8 GB on a thing that I can't install. Has anyone tried and succeeded in installing Windows 10 on a Mac using boot camp? If not, please suggest a way to do it without parallels.

I did it without problems in a VM based in Oracle Virtual Box.

It's free and you can downlaod here.

I have MacBook Pro (Late 2011) with 8GB of RAM.

What went wrong?

Anything could have gone wrong, the fact this is practically an alpha is not helping.

Well it didn't say much it just said 'Could not install (something). Restoring previous version of Windows'. I think there is a problem with the drivers.

Yeah, but don't you have to dedicate ram for that? I have a 4gig ram mac so max I cab dedicate is 2 gig and I think it would be pretty sluggish in that. Although, can you tell me how much space it would take to install it on a VM

You didn't know ? Microsoft's Windows 10 now has a Anti-MAC feature. It will no longer install on any MAC devices, macbooks, other devices, even with VM related software.

This is to shut up all the people complaining that Microsoft is making software for Android and iOS....

:)

PS. Seriously, I don't own a mac, so I cant help...

I dedicated 2.5GB of RAM and 100GB of disk, but i beleive it will work perfectly with 2GB. I installed the 32 bits version.
