Cast to Device Sets the Volume to 50%

I am trying to cast video from my Lenovo i5 laptop to my Samsung TV using 'Cast to Device' in Microsoft Edge. It connects and does what I want wit two exception: 1) it regularly disconnects, 2) if I change the video being streamed, the Cast software resets the TV volume to 50%. This is very loud, given that the TV plays sound into a sound bar. Why/how does Edge or Cast to Device set the TV volume? Is there any way to set the default volume?
