Change phone firmware? It's possible?

My girlfriend has a 620 from her carrier (Oi/Brazil), and in the 8.1 Developer Preview, the battery of the mobile lasts no more than 12 hours... I suspect it's the carrier firmware, because I know someone else who have the same mobile, but from another carrier (or the global firmware).

It's possible to change with the Nokia Recovery Tool, or some other app?

Will I get some compatibility problems about the hardware of the phone? Or the hardware is basically the same?

If you're keen to flash your firmware then yes it is possible. I'd suggest flashing an unbranded rom, preferably from India or Europe
