Changing Country to get update

I have a lumia 520 since its confirmed that the update is released for lumia 520 in france for orange customer
Can i change my region to france to get the update will it be going to affect my warranty or will it affect the features please tell me as i really very eager to get the WP8.1 update

Changing your region from the device settings will NOT affect anything regarding to updates.

Your phone is tied to a region or carrier via its firmware. You will have to nuke your phone's data and flash a different firmware/ROM to get access to updates on a different region/carrier.

The Developer Preview (sans Cyan) would be easiest if you just want 8.1.

And flashing your phone like that will kill your warranty completely.

That might be why Cortana has stopped talking to me on my 1520.3
