Charging Plate Not Working

My mother received her charging plate today. When she set her phone on the plate the phone did not ding to let her know it was beginning to charge. She said that it does not do anything when it is placed on the charging plate. If anybody has had similar problems could you provide some guidance? Thanks in advance.

Make sure she has the rubber foot ring on the bottom. I have come across people thinking its the top for the phone to set on.

Mine did not work when I got it. No light would come on at all. I swapped the cable around so that the end I had plugged into the base went to the ac adapter, and then it worked fine. For some reason, I guess it was not making good contact. I have not had any issues since then.
