Charging struck in limbo

Woke up this morning to a dead phone which was plugged in all night. I take the charge out, put it back in and the phone turns on (woo) to display the battery dead image. not the battery charging image and the phone turns off. As i got to get another another charging the phone turns on again, same image and turns off. a couple of seconds later the same ordeal occurs.

I took the battery out and back in, replaced charge cables and its still turning on and off every couple of seconds.

Any help would be graciously appreciated.

"Limbo", took me to the movie inception, where the phone here is stuck within the dream of a dream in a dream!, the movie was nice and had a happy ending.

Happened with me a few times, phone was on, suddenly I cannot wake it up, since mine is 720 I cannot remove the battery.
Tried a soft reset, hold vol down + power for about 15-20 seconds (count slowly) and release both keys, phone should vibrate once and greet you with signs of life.
