Anyone try charging their surface go with a USB c phone charger such as the Samsung galaxy note 9 USB c charger?

Had a another thread regarding this.

Basically phone chargers are very slow chargers. Need a higher powered charger that is more for the likes of the MacBook.

I have a usb c battery bank that charges as fast as the standard charger... The surface pro charger is even faster.

Hi bulls96

When you say that USB charging is slow, how slow are we talking?

My daughter is going to be taking her Go to college from next week and wants to leave her surface connect charger at home and take an old Lumia 950 charger I have lying around to use in an emergency.

I can see her point. I've had to replace my Pro 3 and Pro 4 chargers in the past. The genuine charger from the Microsoft website isn't cheap :( Way too expensive to lose at school.

My only concern with buying her a Surface Go was the battery life. Most people are saying 5-6 hours of standard use, which is fine if you're leaving the house on a full charge.

But, teenagers are weird that way. They'll absolutely make sure they plug their mobile phone in before heading to bed but will do some work on a laptop, close the lid (without shutting down) and leave the thing on the table without giving it a second thought. They seem to think that laptops and tablets charge themselves.

So I can definitely see scenarios where she gets to school and realises she has a nearly dead device on her hands.

Typically, how long would it take to charge the machine using the USB?

As a side note, I really wish they'd bring out a machine like this running Windows-on-Arm.

Would make the need for daily charging a non-concern from the start. Days of battery life, instant on, always connected. That's gotta be the goal for a machine like the Surface Go.

I bought this charger about 12 months ago and it charges faster than the Surface Charger:

Right now I have 35% battery left - the RavPower plug estimates 47 minutes to fully charged and the Surface Charger estimates 1 hour 57 minutes.
