Checking to see if a lumia 520 is unlocked (att)

Hi.. I just received a lumia 520 with the intention of using it on my trip to India. It was advertised as unlocked. How do I check this without a sim card. I won't have one until I get to India.I have the wifi turned on and am updating it right now. I just want to do as much setup as possible from the US.

Dial ##7820# and it will open the SIM Lock Status screen. You should see a SIM card with a lock in front of it. If the lock shows unlocked, you are good to go.

Be aware that a reset may show th padlock as locked again even if the tray isn't. Best bet, borrow a T-Mo SIM from a friend.

Thank you so much.... I'm pretty sure it is unlocked.. it shows a simcard with an unlocked padlock in front of it!
