Contacts Deleted

Hey guys, I need your help, i have a samsung Omnia 7 , anyway after a few days i decided to add all my contacts to the phone, a few days later all my contacts were all gone. could it be when i signed up to create the default windows live account that it deleted my contacts? i also remember linking my phone to the zune software on my computer.

Any reason why they are gone?
When you add a contact are they stored on the phone memory or sim card, as i have found out that someone in my family decided to chuck my old phone and and plus the 2 sim cards i had in the bin , i am really frustrated that i have lost all my contacts.

Is there anyone to do a data recovery on the sim or phone memory to get my contacts back.

Your contacts should have been stored on the live account associated with your phone davepop. (provided they were originally uploaded there)
Have a look at the following website and see if they are there. (Log in using the live id that you used on the phone.)

Windows Phone 7 | Windows Phone | Microsoft Windows Phone 7 | Windows Phone 7

Once logged in go the My Phone and then contacts (View Contacts) and see if any of them are there. (Although they should be appearing on your phone again if they are there)

No idea why they all dissappeared.

Have you tried importing your contacts from your sim again ? (People / ... / Settings / Import SIM Contacts)

Hey mate, na i already tried that and double checked just then.
I'm thinking that my conacts got deleted when i activated the windows live id for the phone.

Kind of a head-scratcher. Contacts saved on Windows Live is really pretty flawless.

It's because when you linked your Microsoft account to your Windows Phone, the contacts in your Microsoft account overwrites the contacts store locally on your phone. I don't know why it does this, and I don't know why it doesn't just add contacts IN ADDITION to your local contacts. If you find a way for it to not delete local contacts let me know!
