Converting Google contacts to another email

How do I do this? I want to delete my Gmail account because I never use it. However, all of my contacts from my Android device were synced to it. I want to keep them synced to either Hotmail, Verizon Backup Assistant, or Microsoft's backup system.

So do I. I use the outlook.com interface when I'm using web-based email, but I never changed my email address, since I had the hotmail address for my Microsoft account/Xbox Live.

But now I don't see any contacts on my phone when I filter to show Hotmail contacts even though they converted over.

And did this technique work for you even though you have Hotmail?

I set my hotmail as exchange ActiveSync so it syncs contacts and calendar in addition to email.
