Copy and Paste issue in Windows 8.1 phone

I have just acquired my first Smart phone, a Lumia 435 with Windows 8.1. I have encountered an odd problem. When trying to Copy and Paste I cannot get the menu to appear (I think it has options for Copy, Forward, Delete). I can highlight and select text, copy and paste, but I cannot get the menu which should be available when clicking / holding the selected text. Any suggestions?

This site is very slow on my Chrome browser but quite fast enough on Maxthon.
