Cortana | The Long Way Home (Preferred Route?)

There are two ways I can get from home to work... the highway (more miles) and the backroads (more direct), but both take the same amount of time on any given day.

I take the scenic backroads 99% of the time. Cortana gives me reminders to go to work, but it's always using the highway. The travel time is the same, so that's still good.

Is there a way to adjust my "preferred route" to and from work?

I have the same issue. Haven't been able to figure out a way around it yet either. Maybe as she continues to grow they'll add new route options and personalizations like that.

Do you have the routes (home / work) already programmed in Nokia Here, Waze or something else? I wonder if it gets its preferred route from one of those apps.

I do not have the route programmed in any mapping tool. I did try to adjust the route she showed me, and it didn't seem to be editable.

To give Microsoft/Cortana credit, the route she offers is a good one - just not the one I take. If I were sending you to my home from work, I'd send you Cortana's way. =) There are a couple of turns you may miss otherwise.

I expect its better than no directions at all until they get this ready for release and subsequent updates.

The amusing thing to me is that Cortana shows me a tiny map of the highways to get home when she gives me the reminder.

If I click that tiny map, she gives me a different route to get home using back roads, but still not the one I take every day! Ha!

I've tried leaving Waze on several times thinking perhaps it would mine the information from there, but no luck.

I find the same thing. Even though Cortana is showing a different route than mine, if I click on the map that Cortana displays, Here Drive opens up and a route a little bit closer (though not exactly) to the one I actually take is presented. Now if I can get all three of us taking the same route that would be perfect. I'm going to try playing with Here Drive and Here Maps more to see if that might help.

Same with me. I would also like to ask her to "find a different route" in case of known issues affecting streets that don't have live traffic reporting.
