Custom Alerts in WP8?

Guys I have read compaints on this forum that WP8 does not support custom alerts but I found this article written by Daniel Rubino that states otherwise. Can anybody confirm this?

I'm looking into the same thing myself. Hope they didn't drop the ball on this AGAIN. Anyone know how to add customer alerts? Customer ringtones was easy.

Not that I want to say Daniel was wrong but... I never saw any screenshots that ever confirmed this. The one leaked SDK screenshot I remember several people claiming was "proof" actually just proved you could select "none" as your tone. I guess there are 4 new alert sounds, that's it.
