Dell disappointments

Nothing worse than looking forward to something for so long then having that pang of shoulder sagging, smile slackening disappointment.
When getting my first WP device, it was a straight toss-up between a DVP and a 7 Pro (Arrive). I went for the HTC as I was able to get one for an amazing price (pre-Mango sale price - then laughably, they later put their prices back up!) but I always still really liked the Venue Pro.
Then I switched from the 7 Pro to a Titan (passing the 7 Pro to a friend and making a new WP convert of him!). So when I recently decided to run a second phone on another network, the DVP was my first choice.

Blame Dell!:-
No haptic feedback on the Back/Home/Search buttons.
I can't set the screen time out longer than 5 minutes or even disable it (sometimes, when it's charging on the desk, I like to listen to the radio and when I do, I like the screen to remain on).
No kind of charging or missed event notification.

Just my Dell?...it is used, after all:-
Battery heating while charging & using, I've mentioned in another thread.
99% of the time, the Back/Home/Search buttons don't work unless I'm holding the phone. If the phone's on the desk and I go to press one of the three, it almost always doesn't work until I pick the phone up and try it again. Coupled with the lack of feedback vibration and I do find it quite frustrating.
A very small, general delay between pressing one of the hardware (or 3 capacitive) buttons and something happening. I wouldn't call it lag - I've certainly not noticed lag whilst using the phone - it's just very slightly, but noticeably, not as immediate as the Titan, or the previous 7 Pro.

I'll see how I get on with it, but it does risk replacement by possibly a HD7 or Omnia 7, especially as I've found I'm not using the QWERTY.
It has confirmed though that the Titan has spoilt me and 4" is the minimum screen size I'll accept for future devices.

It sounds like you have a glitchy unit. I had a DVP and sold it, missed it immediately and bought another one and one for my wife as well. I never noticed the lack of haptic feedback until you mentioned it. As for all your other issues, I have not experienced any of it. Have you tried running the Windows Phone Support tool and re-flashing the firmware? It doesn't sound like a hardware issue(s).

No, I haven't tried anything with it yet. Maybe give it a go though, give it a fair crack of the whip.

I'm with IanLorenc, my DVP is flawless. The only reason I got a Lumia 900 is, well, it's a Lumia 900! Na really, my DVP is a great phone. Yeah, try a full reset that might do it for you.

I have had my DVP for several months now and for the most part it working pretty well for me.
I do notice if I watch Netfix for like 45 mins the back of the phone is warm so I figure that is because the display is on for such a long time.
The other thing Once in a while when I mark email as read it seems like the next sync it still seems to think its a new email but this is mainly with my yahoo email. When ever email is available it seems that I get a sound and something it will happen within 15 seconds of each other. I figure that means I have two emails but when I look its just one email so I don't know what that is about.
I power cycle my phone like once a month just because I feel that it clears up anything that seems to be operating on the phone that may have not closed.
One other thing is if say I want to sample a song from marketplace then the phone goes to sleep. When I bring back the phone from sleep and I have the wallpaper showing there is a play, reverse, forward button near the top potion of the phone screen that always seems to stay there till I reboot the phone. I wished I knew how to eliminate the play song over the wallpaper screen because I don't want to have that all the time.

.

I noticed this too with Hotmail on both my old Lumia 900 (traded it for a Titan II) and my Titan II, funny I never experienced this with my HD7. I wonder if it is At&t network as my HD7 was on T-Mobile.
