Venturing out the front door and checking out what's on in your local area may prove troublesome depending on what events are currently ongoing. There are numerous tools and services out there, including HERE Maps and Local Scout, which are superb ways to reveal new points of interest (POI).
Spondle (www.spondle.com) is another such service, which enables you to search through local venues, events, POIs and other listings. Both Windows 8 and Windows Phone apps are readily available for deployment into the field. What's interesting about Spondle is how there's an emphasis on user-submitted content.
