do i need to backup personal files to external storage before upgrading to windows 10

I'm thinking of whether my personal docs,pics,videos,songs will be deleting after the upgrade.so please suggest me whether i need to backup those files to some external storage.

It's always a good idea to back up your data, no matter what. Things can happen. With that said, if you choose to "upgrade" your OS to Windows 10 (rather than doing a clean install) none of your personal files will be affected.
