Do Nfc cards/stickers allow payments with all Pos machines e.g pax, verifone etc

Do Nfc cards/stickers allow payments with all Pos machines e.g pax, verifone etc. This may come across as a dumb question but i genuinely dont know the answer. Recently a company told our company that they could create prepaid nfc cards for our company (sorta like pre-paid master/visa cards) i wanted to independently find out if these would be Pos machine specific i.e only work with verifone or maybe pax pos solutions/machines or are nfc cards/stickers (like regular plastic cards) able to work across all pos platforms
