Do UK users of Cortana get less functionality than the US ?

Just posted this on the MS community forum... Interested on people's experience on here...

I've just installed the Anniversary update to windows 10, and one of the features I was really looking forward to doesn't seem to be working.

Short version is that Cortana isn't taking information from my sticky notes and adding them to my calendar / Cortana's notebook.

I think this is due to "insights" not being enabled. When I first started Sticky Notes, it didn't ask me to enable it as per this link :-

( Sticky Notes Insights - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums )

And I can't see the option to enable it anywhere. That said, she doesn't pick info from my email either. I only once managed to get her to track a flight I was meeting someone on by using a workaround and adding the flight number manually.

Cortana seems to have taken a massive step back since it was introduced on Windows phone 8.1. Then it used to pick appointments from my text messages, from emails etc... and be really useful. As it is, it doesn't do anything more for me*than searching for something on Bing or Google.

I can add reminders by using hey cortana or manually, so she "seems" to be working, just missing some of the functionality that is being talked about on websites and blogs.

All my language and location settings are set to UK English etc... I even tried changing them to US, but no improvement. Seems like "insights" might be the key, but I can't see how to switch that on...

Just incase anyone it interested... It seems that the Insights feature with Sticky Notes is US only... Would be nice if they actually documented the fact rather than leave people in the dark. There are a lot of people all raising the same question on the Microsoft Community forums...

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ky-notes/2bead735-d306-446e-b65b-5ebbb1af4d4c

I managed to get it working by setting all my region / language settings to US... And a couple of reboots. And the timezone to Central US.

The answer to the original question is thus a resounding "Yes" There is a marked difference in functionality between the US and UK versions of Cortana... MS, you really need to get a grip on this and clarify what functionality is available in different regions.

As an aside, interestingly, every UK based review I've seen of the update so far fails to mention the fact that this key part of the new functionality is missing. Which means they aren't really reviewing it, they're just regurgitating the media blurb from MS... Lazy, lazy, lazy...
