Does Talk.To really cause a battery leak? Alternatives?

I uninstalled it a while ago reading but I just want to get a consensuses that it does leak. I thought it was great for Google Talk. Any alternatives that do not drain the battery?

ICQ is really good . I was using talk.to but then switched to ICQ as the notifications on ICQ were more reliable
