hello all...
I'm new to WP, so i need to do some reading about it , and i was wondering if WP have things like Recovery mode of Android that can backup and restore the whole system.
I'm asking this because i was googling it and all the result come out with Nokia , but unfortunately my device isn't Nokia so it concerns.

OK... so could someone please tell me does WP have something like Recovery ?
As I know of now , WP phone are separated in 2 parts , the OEM firmware and Microsoft WP OS., and for now there is WP8.1 GDR1 Preview , i'd like to update to it , but i have to think about first that how am I supposed to make my device back to stock OS if something goes wrong , it's gonna be much appreciated if someone could help me out of this ....

I haven't seen a direct parallel to the recovery seen in many Android's, factory resetting would either be done via the settings panel or a button combination.

However, an outright software update is one way, and reverting to a previous install would require a tool like Nokia offers on the desktop, and I'm not familiar with your brand.

including remove OS update ? to the stock status ?

whoops i hit post and happened to reread your post. I missed that part, I've since edited it.

In short, until proven otherwise (like using the tools available to Nokia's and if the manufacturer provides it, other brands) you can assume that OS updates are one-way.

Wp8.1 has a backup feature that allows you to restore a phone. It should then get all your information, contacts texts and pictures etc, you can back app data to the cloud too.

thanks , but it's not the app and data i'm talking about , it's the system.

thanks for the info...

yeah well , i just realized this problem after i ordered it ...

just another question, assume i'm on GDR1 Preview now , am I supposed to run into problem with update on OEM official update ? or I can make OEM official update over Preview ?

I looked up your phone, Prestigio Multiphone 8500 duo. Since this one already comes with WP 8.1 and has the appropriate firmware for it, there probably won't be a firmware update for GDR1 preview. At this time, it appears unlikely that even the Nokia handsets will get a firmware update for this release.
When you install the Preview for Developers app (after signing up for an account), you can enable or disable it. You can't roll back to the previous version. However, if you disable it, the OEM official updates will install if they are newer than what you have installed now. The GDR1 preview could be the final release or there could be releases after it but regardless it should be identical to the OEM official update of GDR1.

The short answer is no. There is nothing in WP like Android's Recovery. The closest you'll get is to do a hard reset and then restore a backup. It's not the same, but it's the closest alternative.
