Does Zynga's Words with Friends still work in Windows 10, especially after the April 2018 update?

WWF - neither on tablet, mobile or laptop - has suddenly become inaccessible! This happened after the April update. I keep getting "An unknown error has occurred" message on all three devices.

Windows devices, for some reason, have been dumped from the WWF app. Rather than a message of explanation, we are getting error messages. Quite surprising considering the volume of windows users. Here is the wording from zynga's support site:

Dear Windows Players,

Thank you for being a valuable member of the Words With Friends community. We loved delivering you a fun experience.

That said, as of May 15th, 2018, Words With Friends will no longer be available to play on Windows devices.

While we are no longer accepting payments from Windows devices, you can continue to play Words With Friends on your Windows device and use any coins you have in your account until May 15.

Words with Friends will still be available to play on iOS, Android, Amazon and Facebook. Words with Friends 2 is also available on iOS and Android. We hope to see you playing again on one of those platforms.
