Double messenger app in app list

[Windows Central Question]

After the new update of facebook messenger for WM10, I see in my All app list two messenger apps, with only one working. The other one when I choose to uninstall nothing happens. Is there any solution except the hard reset? I have a lumia 650

Avoid the hard reset for now. Let's just see what happens after the one that is working actually gets updated.

I am already a member, just I wasn't logged in. From the mobile app I thing I can't post a screenshot

I uninstalled the working app and still remains here. The app is not available now so I can not reinstall it. But even now when I try to uninstall the duplicate app doesn't leave.

an old trick I used to do was reinstall that app and then uninstall it again for a clean uninstall - but it might not work in your case since that must be the messenger app from MS

I really don't think that it's such a big issue :/ If nothing else works then the only option left is to go full duke-nukem..

Hard reset without restoring a backup or restoring and hurrying to the store and cancelling all messenger downloads
