I think the feedback on the forum here has been excellent this last 48 hours. Thanks to all. Im going to suggest we take the plunge here and get 3-4 Redfly Terminals to try out different scenario needs we have.

One thing its becoming apparent is that the 'Jewel in the Redfly' scenario being the Driver that resides on the Smartphone.

To some extent I think it can go much further in mapping user scenarios. No its shouldnt include any scales hardware or software on the Redfly as it would become a failed Folio scenario.

I really do think more could be added to the driver to acheive so much more blue sky potential.

Would it be possible to drop some perceived scenarios in this thread and it may help everyone channel some thoughts that we could collectively approach Celio about?.

With my pitching for the 3-4 Redfly devices this would be valuable to me and hopefully equally valuable to others here. I think collectively we can connect many minds and ideas here to all our benefit and Celio too ;-)

The driver can for now handle the Display and Keyboard but I sense it could include some sniff and other capabilities that would still run on the Smartphone but be able to get things to the Redfly screen is a visionary way.

I know Video is something seperate and thats been worked on.

Who wants to pitch some ideas?

Let me start the ball by suggesting the Sniff mode where it could pull some usb drive data in to a intuative display mode. Lets call it the 'My Redfly Area' without having to drill down in to some of the Smartphone Apps. Easy is the Key.

not really, more a status type screen denoting summary details. Think more the concept rather than the actuals right now.

Call me dumb. cn you expand a little? I'm struggling to see why I would care about a native app that shows me the drive status, but not the files on the drive.

drive

if the redfly software were extended it doesnt have to be a file store. it could be printer or other usb device info thats coming from the peripheral.

hi aware

Hi aware, i think it blinkers possible ideas if we just think file storage. Think that usb can connect a whole plethero of scenarios. Think 'wouldnt it be cool if' Redfly could do x,y,z that comes via usb. This then 'understood and acted on' by Redfly Driver/Screen and so on.

certainly not; the smartphone offers the cpu processing and power; redfly stays terminal otherwise becomes a failed folio like.

Starky - can you take the time to actually write a couple of paragraphs to explain what is in your mind? So far, you;ve not said anything that I can solidify into a clear application. One-liners are not doing it for me.

Starky, I'm a bit confused too at where you're going. Can you give us more details then I can pass your ideas along? You have some great ideas. Remember that you also have the limitations of Windows Mobile both from the OS structure and from native device driver support. If there aren't drivers for printers, etc. for WM that exist from those hardware manufactures, then even if the REDFLY could in theory pass through those commands, Windows Mobile wouldn't know what to do. I love the way you think though.

Okay...Here's my Idea

Develop an in-line device that could be powered by the USB port which would allow extended functions.

Extended functions could mean anything...

Such as a video buffer (non C8N)
