Duplicate contacts (this is seriously still an issue)

Sup WPeeps I updated my Lumia 810 to W10 about 2 days ago when 10589.29 happened and now that the dust has settled its running pretty "ok". Definitely snappier but apps crash and malfunction a lot.
But the biggest problem I'm facing now is that I have duplicate contacts
again
This was a problem in WP7,8, and eventually got fixed in 8.1.

Does anyone else have this problem? It seems really keen on duplicating social network contacts.
In fact if I look under settings and navigate to "Filter contact list", it shows 2 Facebook checkboxes, 2 Twitter checkboxes, and 2 Skype checkboxes. And then there's "Microsoft Messaging".
What the hell is that, am I wrong to assume it should be the same thing as my @live.com contacts?
Infuriating.
Anyone else have this problem and know of a workaround other than factory resetting?

Microsoft messaging contacts appear when you enable the phone to integrate Skype in the texting interface. Why does it need a separate account, I have no idea. If you sign out of skype they all disappear. I need the regular Skype app to make international calls using Skype credit. Since the integrated version cannot do that yet, I disabled the integration. Plus it makes the texting app slow.

Back to your case. Do you use windows 10 desktop? Do you have a different Facebook account on that by any chance? Unified windows 10 may be trying to sync/merge your desktop/laptop and your phone. I have a different live.com email account on my windows 10 laptop, which is not listed under accounts on my phone. but the contacts from that account was showing in my people app until I disabled contact/calendar synchronization on my laptop! Funny thing is the Skype contacts related to the account I mentioned was merging to my main Skype account since on your phone Skype app syncs with the people hub. It was a total mess. My main Skype account was sending contact requests to the people from my other account automatically since the default settings are set to aggressively add more contacts.
