During re setting of my wifes surface pro 4 it asks do you want to clear the tpm.

I have no idea what this is or if it should be cleared or not. The surface pro 4 is only 2 months old. Not much data on it but had to reset it as she had mistakingly downloaded some nasty malware. Figured this was the best way out. We dont have back up of data or reset points or anything like that or a restore usb etc.

To my knowledge, TPM is the Trusted Platform Module - something BitLocker uses. I have no idea what happens if you clear the TPM. Maybe someone with more experience/knowledge will be able to advise.
