I get depressed! There is so much negativity about WP. The survival of Nokia, will BB10 outsell WP, where are the apps, etc. I know there are many more good threads, but this stuff really stands out. Don't get me wrong, some of these concerns might be valid, but there sure are some negative Nancy's on here.

I'm sure the same goes on with other platforms.... why can't Apple give us a larger screen? Will Blackberry 10 hurry up and get here? Great! Another Android Phone that won't get updated!....

Consumers are paying a healthy sum for these phones and the service so impatient, high expectations, and being critical when companies fall short of expectations is par for the course.

It's actually gotten better. We used to have major flame wars in the Windows Mobile days when updates or devices were late. And things simply got rekindled when the devices and updates landed.

Discussion, criticism and complaining are all good for the platform. Hopefully the powers-that-be are listening and some of the improvements will take form. I guess the time you should worry is when nothing is being said at all.

There are plenty if positive threads, but it seems like the negative ones stand out. I don't mind healthy discussion, but some are ridiculous. People want WP with its tiny market share to have instagram when android just got it in the past year. Makes me scratch my head sometimes, lol.

I don't care about Instagram, but I came from Blackberry to Windows Phone. I have a lot more apps for Windows Phone than were available for Blackberry, so I'm not going to complain about apps.

Welcome to life in the forums brow... In addition to what George said our job here is to make sure that people conduct things is a civil manner to each other. I don't have any issue with those that come in to vent or give a negative opinions the ones I have issues with is the people who come in here just to see haw many threads they can get closed by arguing with everything. I am trying to put some things in place to help us reduce the impact these people can have on the forum. Sometimes when I get fed up with all the negativity around I will just skip those threads for a day just read the good stuff. We have a great team here the other guys will take care of it while you or I get some much needed positive input.

But in defense of the other manufacturers, the survival of their platform isn't hanging by a thread. Microsoft may be beating RIM in day-to-day sales but RIM still has a userbase of 79 million strong. WP8 sales could be quickly overtaken if those users decide to upgrade to BB10. And I think a lot of people are surprised at how poor sales have been for WP.

I spent a long time looking for an OS that didn't bore me to tears and Windows Phone really hit the sweet spot. It is fun, lively, fast and has quick access to all the programs I need for a smartphone. WP7.5 was great but lacking in a few areas but WP8 is a huge step forward and the hardware is amazing. However, despite how amazing it is, WP8 sells have only moved the marketshare needle a tiny bit, signaling that it's still going to take a while before WP becomes a mass market success.

A lot of early adopters and WP followers are frustrated by this and their response is to flood the forums with every little nitpick they can find. Plus, I think a lot of people expected all the pieces to fall into place when WP8 dropped, but the user experience was tainted by bugs, glitches, syncing problems and hardware defects. As disappointed as some may be, it's a good thing WP is backed by Microsoft because there's only a few companies that could toss away billions trying to make their phone a success.

My battery lost 25% power in one hour. We're doomed, doomed. I'll tell ya doomed! :winktongue:

Don't forget a lot of the negative threads are user error.

Talking about quality control issues, mobile technology is one of the few industries that is still growing by leaps and bounds, and I think all these asian factories are on overload to get millions of new phones out each quarter.

What quiets the naysayers? If Nokia announces they have sold 6 million Lumias in quarter 4 2012 is that enough? There are a lot of people in the Android and iPhone Blogosphere that don't want WP to succeed because they will be out of a job. What I am trying to say is don't believe everything you read. In the end it comes down to ecosystems if Microsoft wins that war WP wins. With XBOX, and Windows 8 I thing we have a chance to convert a bunch of people from Google iPhone users will be harder to move. Only time will tell.

25% per hour is fine under heavy use and running background tasks.

...but the phone is rated for 9 hours talk time. At this rate I'll only get 6 hours. We're doomed, doomed. I'll tell ya doomed!

Addendum: Plus this is my 6th replacement in two weeks.

My fear is that some of the naysayers can't be reasoned with. Every forum will have trolls, nothing that can be done except weather the storm. But I think a lot of people are just extreme nitpickers. Once one problem is fixed they'll move on to the next; never stopping until they can claim absolute bragging rights over their friends. They're less worried about the platform's own strengths and instead focus way too hard on Windows Phone's reputation. It's always the guy with 20 apps installed that complains about there not being enough apps when in reality the marketplace already covers 90% of what he wants to do. They say you can't please everybody but some people don't want to be pleased. They just want to complain and argue to see if they can gather a crowd of like-minded people.

Extreme nitpickers and extreme exaggeration. Remember that thread that was titled, "Massive Weight Difference" and he was talking about a few grams.

It up to the community to decide the outcome. Even likeminded people have individual sensibility's. This community has a lot of good intelligent people just let them take care of it and you mediate. That's what we do we are moderators. People who protest too much will be called out sooner or later. There are ways to hurry this along if you get tired of it. Take a look at this post by me:

If you decide to do something like this be careful you need to be diplomatic or you might really upset the member. People get to close to a situation sometimes and just need a reminder that this is just a civil debate. This member took it to far and got an infraction. If I hadn't intervened we would have ended up with a reported post. Better he blow up on me than someone else.

Sometimes its the tougher fights that give us the most satisfaction.

Don't let it get to you. That just means that it is on the minds of a lot of folks, whether it be positive or negative.

Look how apple was criticized for not having copy & paste, among a lot of other features that most smartphones had.
