Just wondering if anyone else has experienced an increase in their Internet Explorer data usage since upgrading to 8.1? Since upgrading, I've experienced a massive increase, so much so that I've had to turn my data off, even with Brower Data Savings set to High. I spend the vast majority of my day connected to a wireless network, both at home and in the office, so I have no idea what could be causing this spike in data usage? Anyone else have / had the same problem and/or suggestions on how to resolve it?

I was not able to gauge usage on WinPhone 8 - I assume Data Sense, I did NOT have it on AT&T.

If you are checking Data Sense, the top number is Cellular Data, the bottom is WiFi. I show exorbitant usage over WiFi, 115mb in 2 days (I reset on the 4th), but minimal cellular data. My Data Sense savings are set to automatic, Website preference to mobile version - Desktop version will use more data ...

background tasks use up data..go to battery saver app > select explorer> turn off background tasks

Thanks, I've turned IE ability to run background tasks off, so we'll see how that goes... any idea what it could have been doing to churn through approx. 500mb in 5 days?

Well that depends on the websites you visited during these days.. Websites which has streaming facility like you tube etc...stream videos and this may increase browser cache..and data usage..also scripts running in websites may take up data....presently there was a bug in WP 8.1 dev preview eating up a lot of battery..so the OS may have some problem...so all we should do is wait for the official Lumia cyan update it may fix some of these issues..lets see
