Dear forum staff,Why don't you rein in the complaints of trolling every time someone posts a dissenting opinion or has a complaint, informed or not, about Windows Phone? It just makes this entire forum look like a bunch of spoilt children that can't discuss something without fear of accepting a point of view contrary to their own. I'm not saying stop people from complaining, or even for people to disagree and reaffirm their enjoyment of WP, but most of what I have seen clearly isn't trolling. I don't own a WP yet, so I hope my feedback has at least a little stock. I'd like to use this forum in the future and participate in discussion without this nonsense though.EDIT: This sounds a bit like an attack on the staff. Its not, but this is a situation where I can hardly read one thread without seeing this. Just a reminder link to the rule about "calling someone a troll is a form of trolling" would help a lot.

Well, you've got to give the forum staff a bit of a break. Often times many people will come on and seem like trolls and they aren't. Others post and you know the point is to slam and not be productive. Its not as easy to tell, so they have to give people some rope before they pull the plug. They really aren't trying to kill commentary, but to make sure that the discussions are as informed and helpful as possible. When you get a site that's one of the premiere spots for WP news, it's not as easy to keep the trolls away and facilitate informed discussions.

I'm aware of the staff's constraints and I edited my post to reflect that. But calling someone a troll isn't helpful nor informative. Its also against the forum rules to even throw troll around. I wouldn't have made the feedback if I wasn't seeing it so frequently. It should be close to never, to be honest.

We have a report button use it. I haven't seen one single report from you. If your not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

Fair enough. I wasn't really sure if it was a reportable offense, even if it was in the rules. Now that that has been made clear I'll be sure to do so.

We have many threads and posts to go through any help you can give us finding people who are not posting in a civil manner is appreciated. We do what we can but there is much to do.

Actually, I've had the same thought here lately. It's like we need a forum specifically for complaints. I don't mind people having problems with their device, as long as they ask for help. But just to clutter up a forum complaining you don't like the way WP8 operates is really annoying. Complaints and legitimate questions are 2 separate things.

Understood. Not gonna go hunting for it but if I see it, it'll get to you. Thanks for the quick replies. If you see it fit yo close or delete this thread, you may.

One thing I have seen with here is sometimes how you word things, like anything in life, will either get you help or called a troll. Sometimes even the most tech savvy people don't always know how to get some questions answered in a way that doesn't sound trolling or off putting. Maybe we all should take a minute to really think before we post, but of course some people won't do that.

I don't think a complain zone would be helpful because it gives more ammo to trolls. It's better to try to phrase complaints as constructively as possible instead...

Yeah, a complain zone doesn't fit what I'd call a meaningful post. Not conductive. I get tensions around h. e are high when it comes to the OS success. I think people don't like the negative opinion enough so dedicated complaints won't help.

Trust me. The OS support will pick up. A friend of mine was remarking how she liked it from the commercials

It also determines the mood "you're" in. I think sometimes if we're in a foul mood, a complaint comes across wrong.

It may help if threads on the same topic are collapsed into one. It just seems like overkill to have 12 separate threads on the exact same topic. Even if it is not trolling, with so many similar complaints in so many different threads, it can give the appearance as such. It also makes for an unpleasant experience for those who sign on seeking informative dialogue.

That's one of the main problems. That it's the same list of complaints over and over. I think that sets of some of the posters more than the complaints themselves. Perhaps a stickied thread of bugs and problems. A central place to look to see if someone has the same problem and if there's an answer. If not then you can add your unique problem or start a thread if it's new and a serious flaw that is affecting your immediate use of the phone.

After you've been around a while, you can start to tell who is contributing to the thread and who is just there to stir it up. If anything, there are too many obvious trolls roaming around in those threads. You can always tell because it's the same people liking and thanking each other. And it's always on a negative point.

We moderate the forums regularly and we do have troublemakers that have received infractions or bans. We obviously can't be everywhere which is why there's a report button. If you see a post that you find offensive report it and then the mod team will respond accordingly.

the irony of all of this is that the forum rules forbid saying that word of which one is, so no one can call out that unspeakable name for doing that unspeakable act.

If you see them doing that, please report them. Someone will take care of it.
