Not sure where to post this, please feel free to move if needed.

Just got my wife an 830 for Xmas, the one thing she really likes on my 1520 is the steps tracker, but from what I can see the 830 doesn't have this and because she works in a nursery (Children) she isn't allowed to have her phone on her anyway.

Just found this on Amazon:

XNFit The Clip Activity Tracker - Sleep Tracker - Pedometer for ?25, it's for use with a Windows PC so she could use it with her laptop, it's got very good reviews.

Hey up, just found their website and it's even cheaper to buy direct:

XN Fit The Clip Activity Tracker |XN Fit

It would make the perfect present for our lad to buy for his mum, has anyone come across this device?

May I ask why you think this doesn't work on the 830? What app did you test with? It actually should work on the 830.

I have never heard of this one, but I do know that Fitbit devices will sync up with windows phone or PC. Not sure what the conversion rate is these days from pounds to dollars, but fitbit pogs can be found for around $45-50 on sale USD.

Does the 830 have Motion Data? Look under settings. If it's there, try to use the Health and Fitness app, with motion data.

I just had another look and the steps option even with motion data turned on (And after restarting the phone) isn't there.

However it could all be down to the phone is an Xmas pressie, so no account has been set up yet and there are 36 updates waiting to be sorted so it could all work after Xmas when the phone is set up properly, I will tell the lad to get his mum something else

ATT is currently including FitBit Flex bracelets with each 830. We have two of them now in the family but haven't used them yet. The promotion is making it really hard to find an 830 when you call around, because they are boxed together in an almost plain white box, and the store staff look for small Nokia boxes when you call and ask if they have 830s. Very frustrating. I'm going to sell my FitBit on Craigslist and get the MS Band instead since it has a screen with tiles.

I also have the 830 and at least for me step counting works fine. No fitbit required. Nokia steps and Bing Health and Fitness are both able to visualize the step data.

I don't understand what you mean when you say "the steps option is not there."

When I go into my 1520 and start Health and Fitness, on the Today page I have a headline, then the Steps tile, and below that two tiles for Diet Tracker and Calories.

On the 830 I have the headline and then the two tiles for Diet and Calories, no tile for steps.

But as I said, the phone isn't set up properly yet, no MS account or sim card and many many updates including one for Health and Fitness so I will wait until we get the phone sorted on Xmas day and it will probably work, it's not at all urgent as I doubt my wife will do much walking until after boxing day at least so I can sort it out then.

I think I will tell my lad to get his mum a good cover for the new phone and maybe something else, maybe non tech related cause women are funny like that

Sorry for the delayed reply, on my late shift this week and sleep patterns are all over the place as I adjust.
