Flash videos not using Hardware Acceleration

Hi,

I have new Surface Book i7 (16gb mem 512 gb SSD) with the Nvidia graphics card. I just noticed that when I play flash videos through either Chrome or Edge the system doesn't seem to use Hardware Acceleration ...

Capture.PNG

I presume this because the CPU usage for the browser while playing at full screen is about 10% (low res) while my older laptop (which has a similar config older i7 16gb descrete graphics etc.) runs at about 2.5%. Also the fan comes on pretty quickly because the CPU heats up fast.

I tried using the Nvidia control panel and adding the browsers to the 'preferred graphics processor' list but this had no effect. Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Thanks,
Arif

One answer would be to try avoiding Flash videos and get your content from suppliers using a more modern platform (HTML5). Flash is on the way out and the major companies are gradually trying to wean people off using Flash.
