Dave wanted me to introduce myself, just in case some of you guys didn't know me or were curious as to why I've appeared all of a sudden.

I've been associated with the site since the days it was a part of TreoCentral and for the past five years, I've tackled the Reviews Editor duties for the site. I was also a senior moderator on Popular Photography's forums where I faced many challenges from reader's, spammers and the home office.

While I used to haunt the forums more regularly, we have been asked to have more of a presence here. Don't be surprised if you see Dan, Rich, Rob and others who write for us start showing up more often.

With my moderation background, it's second nature to drop into staff discussions about managing and moderating the forums. Moderation is not an easy task and requires balance, fairness, consistency and at times a thick skin. In a way, discussions in here are no different than a conversation face to face. Discussions are fluid and can drift from the original topic, can be a little repetitive and sometimes argumentative. All of which is fine as long as things remain civil. You keep things civil and in the process encourage participation.

Dave is still responsible for overseeing the moderators but don't be surprised if I jump in at times and offer guidance and direction at times.

Nice to officially meet you, sir.

I'm Figure 8 Dash.

I do most of the Figuring around here.

Also most of the Dashing.

Hi George,

Are you still involved with Popular Photography? I remember it when it was a print magazine. I never had a subscription, but I used to buy issues from the newstand. I still have a lot of old 35mm SLR gear and a lot of photos I need to scan. I'll get some nice DSLR gear one of these days.

I was a member of the Cleveland Photographic Society back in the mid-90s.

Laura... not involved with PopPhoto any more. Bonnier Corp bought the publication and website a few years ago and let things go to pot. There was a major lack of support for the forums that drove a lot of us away. Still heavily involved with photography and I visit the PopPhoto forums from time to time to check in on old friends.

And sometimes I feel 300 years old...

Thanks, George.

I'm sorry to hear that the forums went downhill. Do you know a good photography forum? I'd be interested when I do decide to get some digital gear.

PhotographyCorner.com is where a lot of the PopPhoto members drifted to. You can still get some good advice and strike up conversations at PopPhoto.

There's also FredMiranda.com but that is more structured to the more seasoned photographer.

Cool! I am glad we have two bosses to turn to now.

Heck brow we might have more than 2 it seams like we are headed to direction by committee. The one thing I want everyone to understand George is here to help. I am still in charge here and have final say on everything we do. Whoever decides to offer help will support every decision we make just like always. Nothing changes other that we get more help. Everyone on this team has earned there merits has the sensibility's I require to be moderators and will conduct their business as we always have.

The more the merrier I always say!

On a serious note, it's good to have a diversity of opinions. George has been around a while which makes him a great resource along with the use of the mobile nation forums, which I have used several times searching for opinions.

I thought the editors were also admins and if that's the case then we do have more than 2 bosses
