Hi there,

I would like to share with you an app I just published on the Store. Pease let me know what you think.

Protect your photos with personal secret code, so that only you and trusted people you give the code to, can see them. Everyone else who doesn't know your secret code will see just random scrambled images.

If you want to see the demonstration of photo encoding, click here

With PhotoScrambler you can:
• Encode/decode JPEG and PNG photos
• Take encoded photos with built-in camera
• Share encoded photos with your friends
• Add custom photo-scrambling codes, colors and descriptions *
• Choose photo size after processing *
• Define application password
* limited in FREE version of the application

Secured photos will still be saved as photos, so you can store them in your phone's Pictures libraries, upload them on cloud servers, such as Dropbox, OneDrive or iCloud or similar. They will remain perfectly safe even if the cloud service is hacked!

Photos protected with PhotoScrambler will stay safe even if a curious friend borrows your phone, or if someone steals your phone. Not even a malicious repair person will be able to decode your photos without the code.

Users can scramble and unscramble photos directly from phone's gallery, by selecting photos and choosing PhotoScrambler from "Share with" application list.

Application is available for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1.

Interesting app, especially with the recent news of server hacking incidents & leakages and the growing number of siphoned photos in phone repair centers. Thanks for sharing.

I've got a question though. For example a person successfully scrambles a certain set of sensitive photos and saves it in his or her phone and computer and then he deletes the original unscrambled photos from his or her phone. By some unwise decision he or she also decides to delete the original unscrambled photos from his or her computer. Then his or her phone gets stolen. How will he or she be able to retrieve the original photos? Is there a web-service for this unscrambling feature? Does he or she need to buy another windows phone and re-install this app in order to recover the images?

The main idea is to scramble photos and keep them somewhere on the cloud. Since scrambled photos are still photos, they can be automatically loaded on the OneDrive (or similar) and be there even if your phone is stolen. The most important thing is to know which code did you use to scramble photos, so we encourage users to keep those codes somewhere else (paper for example). We do not keep those codes on our servers because we want to avoid security issues. You can use a specific color-hint to remember the code and use it to decode the photos from your PC or another smartphone you both after the first one was stolen, even if it is for example Android.

The whole point is in the unified scrambling process (Windows or Android) and the fact that photos that you scramble are protected no matter where they are. At the end, encoding the information (photo) it self is far better than securing the medium where that information is stored (smartphone or PC), because devices can get lost or stolen.

PS. We are planning of creating an Web API so that you will be able to scramble/unscramble photos with third party software. That is of course if there is demand for it :)

I forgot to mention that the hypothetical user might not be using a Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 computer, hence he or she does not have the app in his or her PC. Does this mean that the Windows 7 (Vista, XP or earlier) user will not be able to unscramble his or her photos?

Actually, I did develop a Windows app for testing purposes, but still didn't have time to make a public app.

I'm thinking about creating a web-page on photoscrambler website where you will be able to unscramble your photos online, just like that frog example

Hi, I installed your app on my windows laptop and it’s no longer available. The problem is, my photos are still scrambled! Is there any way to undo this?
