Frozen in Standby / Turns off when charging.

I have had my 820 for just over a week now. The first week has been joyous, loved WP8.

However the last two days I have taken my phone of charge (wireless plate) to find it won't turn on / resume to show the lock screen. Nothing I have tried works to bring it back to life. As the screen s blank I don't know if the phone turned itself off, or if it's frozen in standby.

The only way I have been able to resolve this on both occasions is to remove the case and disconnect the battery. Works perfectly after that.

Is this a problem any one else has had? Known bug?

Do you think it's a manufacturing issue? Do I need to get a new phone?

Would really suck to have to take my phone apart every morning just to get it working!

The same thing happens with my 920 and to revive the phone I have to press and hold the Volume down + Power buttons for approx. 12 seconds until the phone vibrates. It will then boot up normally. You can try the same button combo instead of taking the phone apart. I've got no idea why the phone behaves in this way after wireless charging but I've read of a few people reporting the same thing.

I have the 822 never had this problem, I always use wireless charging.

I also had the problems of phone freezing for a couple of times in the last three days, but both times it happened the phone was idle..

Yeah, I got told off by Nokia Care stuff for visiting them twice about this matter, apparently it's a non-issue to them.

Because having the phone turned off in your pocket suddenly, unable to answer calls or receive texts is not a problem to them.

hi mate, I bought my nokia 2 weeks ago and I have exactly the same problem. so far it has only happened when its on the wireless charging plate. please let me know if you manage to find a way around this as its a pain in the arse having to take the case off every time... especially as my finger nail always marks the case lol

I found the soft reset works well now. Hold the power and volume down key for 10-15secs.

Still not sure what causes it. Happened while i was at work earlier, so maybe related to prolonged idle time, rather than when it's on charge?

Anyone got any ideas why this happens?

same thing is happening to me on my 920 but only when it is charging for a while. When i go to sleep its charging and when i wake up its off and have to do the 2 button combination to boot it. Apparently its an issue after with the Portico update. Most people who have tried to factory re set it get stuck on the 2 gear screen for several hours and eventually end up with a bricked phone so I don't suggest you try and factory reset it just yet.
