I've posted my sms problems in a previous thread: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-920/211214-delayed-text-messages.html

2 Lumia 920's and the same result. This morning I just received a txt from from my son that he sent at 8:05pm last night. If having mobile data enabled to guarantee recieving texts (not mms), this will NOT work. The OS is perfect, but this issue is bad.

Am I missing something?? If not, I'm shipping back on Monday.

That's not the phone - it's a carrier problem. My GF had the same problem and they tried to have her swap her phone, I told them no. They tried a new SIM and at first that seemed to work but the problem came right back, So I worked with their tech support and something was set wrong on her backend settings. They fixed it and everything worked great.

I had a similar problem on tmobile and it was that my dataplan was wrong for the phone I changed to.

This was an issue I had a while back as well. I thought it was the phone also, but after talking to tech support there was some update of some kind the carrier had put out that my phone had not received.

Per your instructions, I just talked to Tech Support. They sent an OTA update to the device. She did say they did the same with my first 920 as well, but I had the same issue. I will wait and hopefully this resolves. I have up to 3 warranty exchanges before the replace with another device.

Android is a messy OS which has only one purpose: a delivery system for advertising.

I would stay away from it. Stay on WP, or if you want to switch.. go for BB10. Even apple is better.. with them at least you get a cleaner OS.

Delayed SMS is almost always related to carrier issues, not device issues.

For example, if a person is in a crowded area where a lot of other people are texting, there will probably be delays. A couple years ago I was at the Q Arena watching a Cavs game and tried to text. I had delays. I had a Blackberry at the time. The delays were not because the device was defective. It was because thousands of other people were all texting at the same time.

Similarly, I've had friends from out of state text me at midnight on New Year's Eve. I'll get the SMS a few hours later sometimes, but that's expected since everyone is texting at midnight, and there is so much congestion on the towers.

Im on android now and am seriously considering the switch to windows...one problem however....I have Sprint. ATT is horrid where I live but...IDK I really am liking Windows phones the more I see them in action.

That's what I think to. My Android had this problem once.

I see a big prob with WP8 at the mo is the developer side of things. Without the support, it will always play 3rd (or lower) fiddle to the top 2.
And with BB10 on the scene, should it get the support it looks to be getting, things look bleak.
I'm sure most of us who've moved upto WP would never look at the grass on the other side if we had the same quality apps as the counter parts.
Just hope MS can pull there fingers out and give support the push it needs.

Its coming soon to sprint, thank god
I would keep my eyes on MWC I think we will finnaly see some sprint phones

Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express

So the problem still exists. Its probably worse because recently, I get a VM notification that pops up followed by the flood of back-logged texts. No missed call, just a notification from a someone who called a couple of hours ago. It's definitely network related but why me and with 2 separate devices?
